Competition rules
All entries to the Research Awards will be subject to the following rules:
- The competition is open to all University staff and enrolled higher degree research students, as well as recent spin-off companies.
- Only research at Macquarie University is eligible and only those innovations that have not previously won a Macquarie University Research Award or Innovation Award (in the same category) will be eligible.
- Teams will be considered for awards provided the main applicant is a member of staff or a higher degree research student at Macquarie University.
- Only research that has been developed since 1 May 2011 will be considered.
- The judging panels do not guarantee confidentiality; applicants must not disclose confidential or commercially valuable information.
- The decision of the judging panels is final. Judging panels reserve the right to defer awards if there are no suitable recipients.
- The applicant, institution representatives and Head of Division must be listed on the application and notified prior to submission.
- Entrants may submit as many research projects as they wish for consideration. Each project may only be entered into one category.
- Shortlisted applicants will be required to describe their research in a short video produced under the guidance of the Office of the DVCR.
- The Research Awards are promoted externally and entrants should be aware that their nomination might lead to wider media interest.
- Winners may be requested to submit a short article about their research for internal publication.
- All entrants should be aware that they may be contacted by the Marketing Unit regarding media interest and promotion of their projects.
