Detachments of 73rd sent to Kandy as part of British force (7
Divisions) ordered against the Kingdom of Kandy. Capture and arrest of the king. Some detachments retained for garrison duty in highlands and east coast - remainder return to Colombo.
April:
Colonel Andrew Geils, commandant at Galle.
73rd Regiment stationed in Colombo.
Departure of HMS Kangaroo [Sails from Sydney via Cape York, Torres Strait, Timor: 19 April 1815]. Lieut. Thomas SKOTTOWE; Lieut. Archibald McCREERY; 38 rank and file; 19 women, 45 children. Total 104. (1 child died during passage - no other fatalities).
May:
Death of 4 sons of Colonel Andrew Geils in the shipwreck of the Arniston on 30 May at Cape Agulhas, near the Cape of Good Hope. The children were amongst the 372 passengers and crew who were drowned - there were only 6 survivors].

Arrival of HMS Kangaroo with detachment of 73rd Regiment in Ceylon: Colombo, 24/25 July 1815.
