Dr Taylor was a finalist in the ‘Emerging Leadership’ category, which recognises individuals with a demonstrated track record of transformational leadership in academia. This year’s finalists showcase their efforts in tackling real-word problems with high-quality research and meaningful engagement with the broader community.

Dr Taylor shares her reflections on the significance of the recognition.

“I am deeply honoured to be named a Finalist in the Emerging Leaders category of the AFR Higher Education Awards,” she says.

“I am profoundly grateful to my mentors, whose value-driven guidance has been instrumental in shaping my commitment to ‘integrated thinking’ leadership. This approach creates a virtuous cycle of values, practice, and understanding in the dynamic legal landscape of our energy transition.”

“I now have the great privilege of extending this mentorship to other emerging researchers and HDR candidates at Macquarie Law School – a hive of innovation and cutting-edge research. It is a true joy to represent Macquarie as part of the AFR Higher Education Awards and I look forward to continuing my research into creating a justice-driven energy transition.”

Dr Taylor is a Senior Lecturer and Director of Research Training at Macquarie Law School, Deputy Director of the Centre for Energy and Natural Resources Innovation and Transformation (CENRIT), Co-Stream Leader of the Transforming Energy Markets Research Centre, and Honorary Associate at the Sydney Environment Institute. Her current research focuses on establishing regulatory frameworks to underpin just and diverse decarbonisation technologies and land uses to support the energy transition, working in close collaboration with industry, government and members of the community.
