Foundry Workflow
Strain design and engineering
Our synthetic biology team can provide their expertise and guidance to design and build large-scale and high-throughput genetic modifications for your applications, and bring them to life in yeast and bacteria. We can also design and build large combinatorial genetic part libraries for one-pot screening. If genetic modifications are not desired, our biofoundry has the capacity to generate and screen strain libraries that have undergone random chemical mutagenesis.
High-throughput fermentation
Once genetic variation is introduced to your strain of choice, we can use our automated colony pickers, liquid handling robots, and high-speed shakers to grow hundreds to thousands of strain per day. We can also perform more larger and more controlled fermentations in flasks or in our automated Ambr250 bioreactors.
Analytical chemistry
Once your engineered strains have been fermented, we can screen their metabolite or protein production levels with our high-throughput Shimadzu gas chromatography and liquid chromatography triple quadrupole mass spectrometers, and ultra-high-throughput Laser Desorption Thermal Deionisation system.
Flow cytometry, cell sorting, and qPCR
Gene expression profiling, fluorescence quantification, and high-throughput cell sorting can be used to characterise your strains, or isolate superior performers from a mixed population.
