Indigenous constitutional recognition

Uluru at sunset

Kicking off in 2022, the Reform Lab’s first project will progress work on Indigenous constitutional recognition through a First Nations constitutional voice, as called for by the Uluru Statement from the Heart.

This will mark the next phase after a decade of work by Dr Morris in this field, and demonstrates a growing cohort of non-Indigenous, multicultural Australians advocating alongside Indigenous people for justice and reconciliation in Australia.

Joint Resolution of Multicultural Community Organisations

The Radical Centre Reform Lab together with the Federation for Ethnic Communities Councils Australia (FECCA) is helping multicultural community organisations across Australia show their support for the Voice referendum.

The Voice referendum transcends political and cultural divides. That is why multicultural community organisations are uniting to take a leadership position in raising awareness on the importance of enshrining a First Nations Voice into the Australian Constitution.

Multicultural community organisations across Australia are becoming signatories to the Joint Resolution through this new website.

Joint Resolution of Peak Religious Organisations

On the 27th of May, we brought together an unprecedented coalition of peak religious organisations calling for bipartisan action to hold a referendum on a First Nations voice.

Representatives of the major religious groups of Australia joined with highly acclaimed Australian filmmaker Rachel Perkins of the Arrernte and Kalkadoon Nations, at the Cutaway at Barangaroo in Sydney, as part of a live televised celebration to launch a Joint Resolution in support of a constitutionally guaranteed First Nations voice.

Held amidst the contemporary artwork of the 23rd Biennale of Sydney, titled 'rīvus', the event included a musical performance by Indigenous artist, Eric Avery, and marks the first time such diverse faith communities have taken a united stand in support of the Uluru Statement from the Heart and a First Nations Voice guaranteed by the Constitution.
