Explore our opportunities and partnerships

We offer law students PACE internships and volunteer roles to work on pro-bono, strategic litigation, and human rights projects with experts, communities, and external partners.

PACE programs

Every year the A2J Lab runs two PACE (Professional and Community Engagement) programs for law students. Students are supervised by Professor Surya Deva, A2J Lab Director, or Dr David Birchall, A2J Lab Deputy Director, and provided the opportunity to gain professional experience working on a range of Lab projects.

Dr Ebony Birchall, A2J Lab Deputy Director, also runs Macquarie Law School’s Strategic Litigation Clinic, which provides law students the opportunity to design strategic litigation with assistance from leading Australian litigators. With a focus on access to justice, these cases cover a range of social justice issues, including business and human rights.

Placements are allocated through an application process. If you are interested, monitor announcements for upcoming PACE opportunities.

Volunteers

We welcome expressions of interest from law students who are interested in volunteering with the A2J Lab. We are looking for students who are committed to pursuing access to justice for corporate human rights abuses.

The selected student volunteers will work with leading experts, external partners and affected communities on diverse Lab projects.

If you are interested in volunteering with the A2J Lab, contact the Lab Director, Professor Surya Deva at surya.deva@mq.edu.au

Partnerships

The A2J Lab believes in the power of partnerships to influence corporate behaviour and enable affected rights-holders to seek access to remedy for business-related human rights abuses.

The Lab remains open to explore collaboration with new partners to build an ecosystem that promotes business respect for human rights. If you would like to discuss potential collaboration with us, please get in touch: law.A2JLab@mq.edu.au
