Daria Daulat Bagh

Tipu's two-storey summer palace, with landscaped gardens. Located outside the eastern wall of the fortress and the Bangalore Gate, and leading down to the north branch of the Cauvery River.

After the fall of Seringapatam the building was occupied by Colonel Arthur Wellesley. During his residence he ordered the repair and restoration of the palace, and, in particular, the accurate repainting of the large wall murals adorning the outer verandah walls. These paintings included not only portraits of all the rulers of Mysore, but also a lively, and unflattering, depiction of the defeat of the Colonel Baillie and the British forces at Perambakam (near Conjeeveram) on 10 September 1780.
