Novr. 2.
Major Facey of the Honble. Company's Service, died this day in
consequence of a fall from his Horse. — Capt. Kerr (the Auditor General) as Eldest Captain
succeeds to the Majority. —
Novr. 7.
Wednesday. I was this Evening introduced by Colonel Balfour to Mr. Morley's Family: – seemingly a very pleasant
one to be acquainted in; Mr. Morley is a sensible Gentlemanlike man;
Mrs. Morley, and her Sister, Miss Jarvis, both
appear to be well-bred elegant agreeable Women. —
Capt. Geo. Mackenzie and his little agreeable
Wife, sailed this day for the Coast – I took leave of them in the
forenoon. —
Novr. 20.
There was a Ball given by the Governor to the Settlement, previous to
his departure for the Coast. — I danced a Reel with Miss Jarvis.

Saturday. I dined, for the first time today at Mr. Morley's , and spent a very pleasant day. —
Went to General Carnac's Ball after Supper. —
Novr. 26.
General Abercromby and his Suite sailed this day for the Coast. —
I forgot to mention in its place that Captain Alexander Cumine of the
75th. Regiment came to live with me on the
17th. Inst.; he
arrived lately from the Coast, and is so far on his way to Europe.
— My Friend Capt. Donald Cameron, is also
arrived from Cananore, on a Visit to his Friends at Bombay, and he also
lives with me occasionally. —
