Co-funding for MRFP projects is available through the Enterprise Partnership Scheme.

Community Engagement and Disengagement

Research Leader: Dr Jana Bowden-Everson, Faculty of Business & Economics

This project supports the City of Ryde’s medium to long-term strategic community plans by tracking customers’ perceptions of performance, attitudes, and extent of inclusion and engagement with Ryde’s strategic and operational delivery plans.

PMD Site Trial

Research Leader: Professor Robyn Dowling, Faculty of Science
Council Contact: Mr Sam Cappelli, Environment Manager

This project will involve a site trial of Personal Mobility Devices (PMDs) – powered devices that allow the user to travel short distances quickly and to transfer between transport modes – as part of a solution to the congestion created by short journeys. Researchers in this project are drawn from all four faculties of the University.

Waste-to-Energy

Research Leaders: Professor Graham Town and Associate Professor Vladimir Strezov (Faculty of Science)

This project is assessing and developing technologies to reduce domestic waste streams by converting waste to energy at household and local scales. The project includes links to refurbishment of space for Sustainability@MQ with the Building Sustainability Group at Macquarie University Property.


Workforce Planning

Research Leaders: Professor Ray Markey (Faculty of Business and Economics)

This project is assisting Council improve its workforce planning and ability to recruit and retain the staff it needs for future demands on local government.


Review of Public Affairs Unit

Research Leader: Ms Daryl Karp (Access Macquarie)
Council Contact: Mr John Neish, General Manager

This project reviewed and made recommendation regarding Council’s Public Affairs Unit (completed May 2012).
