Game-changing education degrees

Macquarie is pioneering an innovative suite of new education degrees that is set to reshape teacher education in Australia.

We have refreshed our suite of education degrees for students commencing in 2025. Streamlined and future focused, the degrees provide the opportunity to undertake full-time employment as a conditionally accredited teacher during fourth year.

Study education at Macquarie

When you enrol in an education degree at Macquarie University, you have the opportunity to:

  • study key topics reflective of future classrooms
  • expand on your core units with essential and elective units
  • be part of the exclusive Department of Education Hub School Program
  • flexibly wrap your studies around your paid placement.

We also offer:

Streamlined and future focused, the degrees provide the opportunity to undertake full-time employment as a conditionally accredited teacher during fourth year.

We’re able to offer this unique placement by wrapping an out-of-hours, hybrid program of study around your professional work, which we’ll deliver through education networks known as communities of practice.

In your first year, you’ll study a set of core units that span the suit of degrees. In these units, you’ll explore national education priorities, including literacy and numeracy, inclusive practices, technology in the classroom, cultural and linguistic diversity, sustainability teaching, the integration of Indigenous knowledge in the classroom, and how children learn.

Then in your second and third years, you’ll study units focused on your teaching specialisation – early childhood, early childhood and primary, primary or secondary – and you’ll undertake your first professional experience placements.

In your fourth year, you’ll undertake your extended professional placement.

The streamlined nature of the degrees, in conjunction with the extensive placements, means you’ll graduate wholly equipped with the knowledge and skills to succeed in modern education settings.
