Information about the workshop
Advances in early identification, hearing devices and intervention have allowed many children with hearing loss to develop oral language skills commensurate with their hearing peers. However, teachers and parents continue to report many learning challenges these children face during the critical language learning years. Continuing on from the Beyond Speech multidisciplinary workshops in 2020 and 2021, this year’s online workshop offers new research findings on language processing and learning by children with hearing loss, with implications for classroom learning. The workshop will also bring together perspectives from teachers of the deaf, audiologists, speech pathologists, and parents to discuss current issues and future directions.

Where can I watch the live-streamed talks (or watch them after the scheduled times)?
The workshop will be held online-only via Zoom. A link will be emailed to all workshop registrants prior to the workshop. The captioned, interpreted talks will be shared as individual links and emailed to workshop registrants 10 days after the live event.
How can I ask questions of the presenter to answer in their question time?
We encourage you to use the chat function in Zoom to ask your questions during and after the presentation. These will be directed to the presenter in their question time, or answered during the next session.
You are also invited to use the “Raise my hand” feature in Zoom gestures, accessible from the bottom of the Zoom screen, to indicate that you would like to be unmuted to ask your question. If you raise your hand, wait to be invited to unmute by the facilitator to ask your question.
