SMART GREEN CITIES - SUSTAINABLE CITIES:

Building big better: overcoming the legal, social and economic challenges of high density cities for strata residents

While much attention is paid to the planning of high density cities and the design of high rise buildings, less attention is paid to the legal, social and financial reality of density for strata title residents.

  • Shared infrastructure, such as solar panels or an embedded network, might seem optimal, but what does this infrastructure mean for the lay people who will own it? Will they be willing and able to manage its use and repair, or will they be compelled to employ expensive professional services?
  • How well do professionals in the housing sector understand the governance structures created by strata and community title or stratum subdivision?
  • How can we ensure that the high density housing we build today is manageable, sustainable, and affordable for the next generation?

This industry event will bring together professionals from architecture, design, engineering, surveying, planning, social housing, government, and law, as well as the development, property management, and strata sectors. It will map out ways we can better connect the planning of high density housing with its long term use.

Join us for two panel sessions 9-10am and 10.30-11.30am.  A networking morning tea will provided between sessions.
