This Evening anchored in the Harbour the Canada Transport Ship Capt. J. B. Ward, wt. 121 Female Convicts from England, from whence she sailed on the 23d. of March last.
N.B. recd. a number of Public & Private Letters by her, and official notification of the Earl of Liverpool's appointment to be Secry. of State for the Colonies in room of Lord Castlereagh resigned! —
Sunday 16th. Septr. ! —
I this Evening detected a Conspiracy set on foot by 25 Convicts, some few Sailors & 4 Soldiers to seize upon, cut out and run away with the American Brig Aurora which was just ready for Sea. — Nine of the Conspirators were taken, apprehended by a Guard on Bennilong's Point between 7 & 8 OClock at Night; and on being examined most of them confessed the crime they intended to perpetrate – and named some of their accomplices, who of course were ordered to be taken into custody. —
Mondy. 17th. Septr. —
63 of the Women Convicts recently arrived were sent off this morning to Parramatta. — I went up thither in the afternoon along with Mrs. Mc.Quarie to make some arrangements respecting employing at the Factory and lodging them properly. —

I rode out to look at the New Line of Road to Hawkesbury – and returned on Wedy. 19th. to Sydney. —

The Bachelors (who are Subscribers to the Races at Sydney) gave a Ball & Supper at Mr. Lord's House to the Ladies & Gentlemen of the Settlement, at which I was present with Mrs. M. & Family.
Saty. 22d. Septr. —
A new Flagg [sic] Staff was erected this day at the Battery at Dawes's Point, the old one having been taken down in consequence of being quite rotten and decayed. —
Sunday 23d. Septr.! —
The Diana (Whaler) Capt. Parker Sailed this morning from Port Jackson on a Fishing voyage – and touches at Norfolk Island. — Wrote by this opportunity to Lt. Crane, and sent 60 Suits & Slops & Laundry Stores for the Settlement of Norfolk Island. —
