Mrs. Macquarie had the misfortune of having a miscarriage this Night after going to Bed, which caused us both a great deal of uneasiness and mystification. She must have been gone with Child between five and six weeks. —

I entertained the principal Civil and Military Officers of Government this day at Dinner on honor of H.R.H. the Prince of Wales's Birth Day! —

Mrs. Macquarie and Self stood as Godfather & Godmother to the Infant Son of the Revd. Wm. Cowper in Church – the Child being christened "William Macquarie". —
Monday 27th. Augt.
Mrs. Macquarie & Self went up this day by Water to Parramatta – wt. Family & attendants; it taking 3 Hours & 10 minutes to row up thither. — Mr. & Mrs. Bent wt. their Child went up to Parramatta by Carriage [?] by Land to pass some days with us. —

We Paid Visits in Parramatta. —
Wednesday 29th. Augt. —
I rode out with Mrs. M. and the Bents to Tongabee [sic] & Prospect Hill – from which last had a fine view of the adjacent Country; returning home by the Cow Pasture Road. —
Thursday 30th.
Rode out with Mrs. M. & the Bents to see New Jerusalem Rocks – riding afterwards to through the Northern Boundary, Field of Mars, and Pennant Hills Districts – and came back to Dinner after riding at least 16 miles!
Fridy. 31st. Augt. —
Mrs. M. & Self wt. Family returned this day to Sydney by Water; Mr. & Mrs. Bent having come back by Land in the Carriage – dining with us afterwards in Town. —
The Atalanta Brig Whaler, in Six days from the Derwent. —
N.B. This Vessel sails for England in 5 or 6 weeks hence. —
