June 20.
Friday! — The Four Bombay and China Ships arrived here this day
from England, which they left on the 4th. of
March last. — I had the happiness of receiving Letters by this
opportunity from my dearest Elizabeth and other friends at Home - all of
whom are well in Health - thank God! — I also received this day an
official Letter from the Honble. Lt. Colonel Lake Adjt.
Genl. to the Kings Troops in India, informing
me that His Excellency the Comr. in Chief Lord
Lake had lately been kindly pleased to comply with my request in behalf
of my Nephew Mr. Martin Wilkins - whom His
Lordship has been pleased to appoint to an Ensigncy in the 86th. Regt. - his Commission
bearing the date the 7th. of January last.
