I spent this Newyearsday with the Reverend Mr. Arnold Burrowes, at whose House a numerous and agreeable Party of Ladies and Gentlemen dined. —
Jany. 2.
The Swan Sloop of War commanded by Capt. Halstead (who is Post Captain by the bye) sailed today for England. — On her went Passengers Lieuts. Macleod & Lawrence of the 77th. Regiment. —
Jany. 16.
Wednesday. I had the honor to be instituted a Free–Mason; and to be initiated in the Mysteries of that honourable and worshipful Society – in Lodge No. 1, whereof the worshipful John De Ponthieu Esqr. is Master. — Lt. Jno. Shaw was made the same night – both of us being introduced by the Revd. Mr. Nick Wade.

Sunday. Sailed this morning for England, His Majesty's Frigate Perseverance commanded by Capt. Smith — On her went Passenger Lt. Richard Neilson of the 77th. Regt — I wrote letters by him, to my Friends, Mrs. Maclean of Torloisk, Mr. McLean of Laggan, – Capt. Montresor 77th. (and the Agents on business, in Duplicate of former letters Per Montrose) — these letters are dated 18th. & 19th. Inst. —
