Rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery
Our faculty has extensive experience in rhinologic medical and surgical practice. A/ Prof Raymond Sacks and A/ Prof Richard Harvey work within a tertiary rhinologic clinic. Clinical practice includes 70% inflammatory disease management. Surgical practice incorporates nasal reconstruction, rhinoplasty, dacrocystorhinostomy, orbital surgery, pituitary and extended endoscopic skull base surgery. The faculty has published extensively in the field and authored many book chapters. Opportunities exist for either a Master of Advanced Surgery in Otolaryngology (in rhinology/skull base surgery) or a clinical research PhD in Rhinology. The Masters course incorporates an assessed 12 month clinical experience and professional development . The PhD program includes a substantive research program. Clinical experience is possible for PhD candidates during their 3 year tenure if they are suitably qualified.

- Novel topical therapies in the management of inflammatory chronic sino-nasal disease
- Clinical and functional outcomes in endoscopic skull base surgery
- Epigenetic defects in chronic rhinosinusitis
- Dacrocystorhinostomy outcomes and long term rhinostomy function
- Psychometric validity of epistaxis severity scoring in HHT patients
