Launched last year, the Global Leadership Entry Program (GLEP), which allows year 12 students to join our community before they finish high-school, introduced several outstanding students who are already changing the world. Now, a year later the stage is set to introduce a new group of future leaders to Macquarie.
“Research shows the ATAR is not always the best indicator of potential success at University, and GLEP was designed to identify those students who had demonstrated a range of important and worthwhile capabilities,” said Professor Sherman Young Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching).
Professor Young says the Global Leadership Program (GLP) has been an integral part of the Macquarie experience for almost a decade and thousands of students have already engaged in GLP activities and embraced its values.
The 2014 launch attracted more than 450 applications and saw 229 offers accepted.
“By extending the program to year 12 students who are already engaged in leadership and community activities, we are strengthening both the GLP and Macquarie as a whole,” he said. “We had successful applications from students who had already changed the world – and we want to keep doing just that.”
