Congratulations to Professor Vladimir Strezov from the Department of Environmental Sciences on his recent appointment to the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) Advisory Panel.

The Australian Government established ARENA in July 2012, and it is now the largest funding body in Australia that supports research, development and commercialisation of industrial-scale projects in renewable energy.

“My role will be to assess project proposals for funding in the area of bioenergy,” Professor Strezov said. “I am honoured to have received this role, which in turn recognises Macquarie University’s expertise in bioenergy research and industrial consulting services.”

Professor Strezov has 20 years of experience in energy technology, specialising in biomass research and industrial sustainability science. He has pioneered a computational thermo-analytical methodology for the assessment of energy conversion of biomass and has also led the research into developing methods for quantifying industrial sustainable development.
