Last week staff and higher degree research students were invited to imagine Macquarie in 2024 at the Research Weather Report 3.0 event, and learn more about our growing research profile.
“We need to conduct research that changes the world,” said Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Sakkie Pretorius. “In 2014 we celebrated fifty years, now we look forward to 2024 and further develop our institutional and cultural legacy of research excellence.”
2014 saw Macquarie achieve an 18% increase in external research funding, one of the largest year-on-year increases in our 50 year history. Higher Degree Research Completions increased by 33%, in large part due to the first cohort of Master of Research Students graduating.
Professor Pretorius will now present Research Town Halls with each Faculty and MGSM to provide an opportunity for staff to raise questions while outlining the interaction of our Four Key Research Objectives and Five Future-shaping Research Priorities.
