[Pictured above] Six Macquarie building wardens put their skills to the test at a recent fire training exercise, as part of a reward initiated by the Health and Safety Unit. The team got the opportunity to don safety gear and undertake training similar to that experienced by new firefighting recruits, and perform search and rescue missions.

From our campus to Australian wildlife, more than 80 international students met with iconic Australian animals at the Featherdale Wildlife Park during last month’s social orientation adventures.

Organised by current students, an Australian barbeque and bush dance was part of a range of fun on and off campus activities designed to introduce new students to life in Australia as well as provide the opportunity to meet and make friends with new and existing students as classes begin.

The breakfast event honoured the economic, political and social achievements of women in the past, present and future.

Last week more than 300 high achieving students met with top employers Westpac, Optiver, Macquarie Group, EY, Barclays, 180 Degrees Consulting, PwC, ANZ, Zurich and the Commonwealth Bank at the inaugural Banking, Trading and Consulting Fair. Organised by the Career and Employment Service and MGSM the event was met with equal praise, with students welcoming the opportunity to meet potential employers, and employers praising the high calibre of students in attendance.

New students and their parents got the opportunity to learn more about our first-year wellbeing programs and support services at the 2015 Macquarie Essentials information evening, Monday 23 February. Guests heard from Vice-Chancellor Professor S Bruce Dowton, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching) Professor Sherman Young and Student Administration, Lifecycle Manager, Brad Windon. Following the presentations, guests had the chance to meet and speak with university staff on the various programs available to students.
