Macquarie has announced its intention to establish a new campus in the Sydney CBD next year, after deciding not to renew its current Macquarie University City Campus (MQCC) management contract with IBT (Sydney) Pty Limited, a subsidiary of Navitas Ltd, beyond early 2016.
Professor John Simons, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), said the University preferred to manage its city campus itself rather than outsource it to an external service provider.
“Having a CBD campus is very convenient for our local and international students who either live or work in Sydney’s business heart,” he said. “Operating our own city campus ensures that not only do our students continue to receive the high quality education that Macquarie has become renowned for over the past 50 years, but also that every aspect of their student experience is consistent with that of students on our main campus.”
Professor Simons said the University was seeking premises near the MQCC’s current location, to ensure an easy transition for students.
