In response to feedback to make IT services and directorates more intelligible to staff and students, Informatics will now be known as Information Technology.
Led by Chief Information Officer, Dr Mary Davies, Information Technology will be comprised of three ‘directorates’:
1. Client Services
2. Infrastructure & Applications
3. Programme Management Office.
Infrastructure & Applications

Responsible for:
- Wired and wireless networks
- Internet service
- Servers, compute and storage (on-premise and off-premise)
- Staff file storage and collaboration services
- Authentication services
- Security services
- Application services supporting research, learning, teaching, and administration (including staff and student e-mail and calendaring services, web based applications, database services, and all key business systems)
- Software development services
- Procurement and maintenance of core IT infrastructure
Client Services

Responsible for:
- IT support for Staff and Students (face to face via IT Help Desk, phone and online via OneHelp).
- Telephony services for all Staff
- Desktop Support services for Staff groups including the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the majority of the University administrative departments, and for the University Switchboard.
- Procurement of IT hardware and software services
- Software licensing services
- Student printing services
- ITIL implementation and training
Programme Management Office

Responsible for:
- Project Management Office Function including:
o Project Managers
o Business Analysts
o Capital IT business cases
o Project plans
o Project expenditure - Delivery of Capital IT Projects
- Monitoring of IT capital budget
Faculty and Department local IT Support remains unchanged.
