In The Media

TV, radio, print and online – our researchers share their expertise and profile their recent work across a range of media outlets. Here are some examples from the last month.

Dr Malcolm Choat and colleagues from the Department of Ancient History captured the world’s imagination with tales of love spells and ailment prescriptions deciphered from an ancient ‘spellbook’ in Macquarie’s own Museum of Ancient Cultures. The bulk of coverage derived from one or two pieces that were shared, tweeted, and linked to online.

Professor Mark Taylor and team from the Department of Environment and Geography have received substantial coverage in the Newcastle area for their investigation into contamination around a lead smelter site in Boolaroo, near Lake Macquarie. Given the concerns for local residents, the research team have worked closely with the Newcastle Herald. Regional radio stations have also regularly reported updates.
