Transfer of Geography and subsequent Departmental changes
The Department of Environment and Geography will be disestablished and two new departments created, effective 1 January 2015, following comprehensive and lengthy staff consultation and involvement and the recent formal approval by the Vice-Chancellor.
The Department of Environmental Sciences will be established within the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and a Department of Geography and Planning created within the Faculty of Arts.
The rationale for the departmental changes was to improve the support of staff in their contributions to teaching and research, given that there is a substantial portion of staff in the current department whose research and teaching interests lie at the inter-disciplinary boundary of the social and physical sciences.
Transfer of the Department of Health Professions
The Department of Health Professions will transfer from the Faculty of Human Sciences to the new Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences effective 1 January 2015, following recent formal approval by the Vice-Chancellor.
The proposal to transfer the Department was signalled as part of the creation of the new Faculty, and has already been communicated with staff directly involved.
