The Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM) announced last week the largest investment by any Australian business school into the postgraduate business education of women.
Powered by a $4 million investment from MGSM, with a matching $4 million from corporate and government partners, the Women in MBA program sets out to overcome the global gender imbalance in MBA programs. The total $8 million investment goes directly to eliminating or reducing the fee women pay to complete MBA study.
“MBA programs are the breeding ground for tomorrow’s leaders. They are the finishing school for middle managers gunning for senior leadership positions. They are also the place where the national stock of leadership capital is being developed,” said Professor Alex Frino, Dean of MGSM.

Campus Life is one of 76 organisations to be awarded a government Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation, based on their strategic and systematic approach to achieving a gender diverse workforce.
“The citation provides Campus Life with superior positioning in a competitive market place,” said Campus Life Head of Operations, Richard Luxford. “This enables us to be seen as whom we truly are, an organisation where our foundations are built on everything fair and equitable in everything we do and exude as a business.”
Richard explains the citation reflects the hard work of the team who have established a diversity committee, set targets to reduce gender pay gaps, parental leave benefits, flexible working arrangements for both women and men, learning and development opportunities, and a reward and recognition program.
“The citation supports our efforts to attract and retain the best possible talent to build a high performance workforce, which is then passed onto staff and students through superior customer service,” he said.
Richard says receiving this award acknowledges an investment in people at all levels and as a result, enhances employee engagement and staff retention.
Congratulations to the team.
