Following two hearings before the Fair Work Commission, the University’s Enterprise Agreement (Academic Staff) 2014 has been approved and will come into operation from 29 August.
The agreement includes a salary increase of 3%, backdated to 20 March, payable to academic staff employed at the date of operation. The salary increase (and any associated back pay) will be made in the next fortnightly pay cycle.
The outcomes from the agreement mean that Macquarie University academic staff remain among the most competitively remunerated in the country.
In the next few months the university will commence negotiations for a new professional staff enterprise agreement. I am confident that these negotiators will conclude with a similar outcome for professional staff.
