Professor Alessandro Frino, Dean, Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM), has been awarded the highly competitive and prestigious Messageri Della Conoscenza Fellowship from Italy’s Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MUIR).
“I am delighted to receive this fellowship, it is a truly great honour,” said Professor Frino.
The Fellowship aims to attract senior Professors – who are Italian citizens but live abroad – to universities in Southern Italy to address the “brain drain” out of that region.
A former Fulbright Scholar and a Professor of Finance with expertise in financial market regulation, Alessandro will act as the visiting professor at Federico II University in Naples, teaching in their Master of Finance program.
“I am also excited at further collaboration opportunities between our two countries, given that the top student in my course will be funded to come to Australia and work on a research project at MGSM. This will be the third student from Italy that MGSM will have hosted over the last 12 months,” he said.
As part of his efforts to further research and education links between Italy and Australia, Professor Frino is also the founder and Scientific Director of the European Capital Markets Cooperative Research Centre and a facilitator of research into European Financial Markets, which is pan-European and headquartered in Pescara, Italy.
