From 1 July 2014 casual and fixed term staff on contracts of less than two years will receive an increase in employer superannuation contributions from 9.25% to 9.5%. The Government has announced the rate will remain at 9.5% until 30 June 2018 and then increase by 0.5 percentage points each year until it reaches 12%.
Staff members who currently receive 17% superannuation will be unaffected by this change as the 17% contribution is inclusive of the minimum level of superannuation guarantee.
