Student life – one of the most important parts of any university journey – is enriched by our brand-new Hub and great sporting facilities. We provide academic, wellbeing and our unique career support service to ensure students have the help they need.
Macquarie offers a suite of health and wellbeing services – counselling, accessibility, welfare, advocacy, medical and religious support – that you can take advantage of at any time during your studies.
Macquarie is an inclusive and diverse campus with students from more than 118 countries. We offer specific support services to students from culturally diverse backgrounds, students with disability, Indigenous students and LGBTIQ+ students.
Our new Central Courtyard is full of fabulous food outlets, buzzing bars, exciting events and more. An Asian fusion Eat Street – as well as Middle Eastern, Mexican and French options, juice, coffee, burgers and UBar’s famous pizzas give students a world of dining options, the opportunity to meet other students and enjoy uni life even more.
Getting to Macquarie is easy and convenient thanks to our on-campus train station as well as abundant bus connections, car parking, bike paths and parking.
Macquarie’s sport facilities are some of the best university facilities in Australia. We offer a state-of-the-art health club; heated 50-metre outdoor and 25-metre indoor swimming pools; football and soccer fields; tennis, basketball and squash courts; a martial arts area; a gymnastics hall; and more.
We also offer social sport competitions and sport clubs. Competitions run each session and include sports such as basketball, futsal, netball and touch. Our sport clubs also offer a range of competitive and beginner programs in AFL, cheerleading, cricket, dance, fencing, hockey, quidditch, rowing, rugby league, rugby union, skiing and snowboarding, soccer, squash, table tennis, ultimate frisbee, volleyball and water polo.
The Macquarie University Peer Mentors program is one of Australia’s longest-running peer-support programs. Mentors are current students who can help you find your way around the campus, and give students tips about how to make friends and settle into the Macquarie community. Students choose a mentor once they enrol and connect with them during O Week.
Through the Numeracy Centre, we offer assistance with maths and stats. Students can choose from a free drop-in service, weekly workshops for some first-year degrees, bridging programs, preparatory courses and some online resources.
Macquarie offers individual consultations, free workshops and online resources to help students with academic writing, referencing, exam strategies and more.
The Career and Employment Service can help students prepare a résumé, provide advice about the skills they’ll need for their chosen career, identify job opportunities, and connect them with employers and industry partners. We support students for up to 12 months after graduation – making us unique among university recruitment services.
Macquarie has an excellent reputation for making it easy to transfer between our degrees as students’ interests develop. Our unique interdisciplinary approach also enables students to take units outside their degree.
