Entry to Macquarie University College pathway programs

Our Direct Entry programs are an ideal environment for students who intend to undertake Standard Foundation, Intensive Program, a Diploma or a Masters Qualifying Program and need to study English first.

Each of our ten-week Direct Entry programs develops the language and academic skills you’ll need to succeed in your chosen pathway program, through engaging academic content as well as project work. You will also have opportunities to make new friends and use your English outside the classroom to complete group projects.

  • IELTS 5.0 and above (Standard Foundation)
  • IELTS 5.5 and above (all other programs)
  • Students entering Standard Foundation, Intensive Program, Diploma and Masters Qualifying Program
  • International
  • 10 weeks

The programs build your ability to:

  • write academic essays
  • analyse and describe data
  • understand lectures
  • take notes
  • give oral presentations
  • work collaboratively
  • participate in academic debate.

Entry requirements

Students who do not meet the requirement for entry to their chosen direct entry program will be required to undertake the Academic English Program. If your current overall IELTS score is below 5.0 you should enrol in the General English program.
