About the scholarship

The MQ Accommodation Sustainability Scholarship is designed to assist new students from disadvantaged backgrounds, regional and remote Australia with a full cover of the cost of accommodation in a 6 bedroom apartment located in the Central Courtyard precinct. Opened in early 2021 our Central Courtyard Accommodation is the only accommodation managed and operated by Macquarie University. The accommodation is located in the heart of the campus, so you can get to your lectures in just a few minutes. This scholarship is awarded for up to 3 years, subject to meeting ongoing eligibility criteria

Criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen; the holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa.
  • Have received and accepted an Offer of Admission through UAC for an undergraduate degree at Macquarie University for commencement in Session 1 2024.
  • Be a current school leaver, or graduate of the previous year who have not undertaken any tertiary study in their gap year.
  • Have demonstrated financial need via submission of a UAC Equity Scholarship application.
  • Be a recipient of a Centrelink means-tested Income Support Payment.

How to apply

Applications are available via the UAC Equity Scholarship Application Portal. Macquarie University will be participating in the following Equity Scholarship (ES) Offer Rounds for course commencement in Session 1 2024:

  • November Round 2: Apply by Friday, 10 Nov 2023 11:59pm.
  • December Round 2: Apply by Friday, 08 Dec 2023 11:59pm.
  • January Round 1: Apply by Friday, 29 Dec 2023 11:59pm.
  • March Round 1: Apply by Friday, 2 Feb 2024 11:59pm.
  • Scholarship places may be exhausted prior to January offer round. Make sure to submit your application prior to the November round to avoid disappointment.
  • Only one application is required for the admission year. The application will remain active and will be considered again in each offer round in the current admissions period.
