About the scholarship

The Macquarie University Accommodation Scholarship assists rural and remote students from disadvantaged backgrounds, including demonstrated financial hardship, with the costs associated with higher education.

Duration

This scholarship is awarded for up to 4 years, provided you continue to meet eligibility criteria.

Criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be an Australian citizen, or the holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa
• Be a commencing or continuing full-time student in an undergraduate degree at Macquarie University
• Be from a regional and remote area; Able to demonstrate financial hardship; Applicants need to be in receipt of Youth Allowance or any other means tested Commonwealth support payment
• Consideration is given to factors including an Indigenous background, capacity to triumph over hardship, carer responsibilities, rural or remote background, long term disability or medical condition, or ongoing effects of trauma and abuse.

How to apply

Applications are available via the UAC Equity Scholarship Application Portal. Macquarie University will be participating in the following Equity Scholarship (ES) Offer Rounds for course commencement in Session 2 2024:

• July Round 2: Apply by Friday, 12 July 2024 11:59pm
• Make sure to submit your application as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
• Only one application is required for the admission year. The application will remain active and will be considered again in each offer round in the current admissions period.
