Recognising excellence in Science, Information Technology and Engineering, the aim of this scholarship is to fund scholars based on excellence and equity, supporting students who have the potential to make a positive impact in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development goals.

About the scholarship

The scholarship is open to domestic and international students, targeted at students studying Science, Engineering, and IT degrees. The aim of this scholarship is to fund scholars based on excellence and equity, supporting students who have the potential to make a positive impact in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development goals.

Duration

The scholarship is awarded for up to 4 years for Undergraduate or up to 2 years for Postgraduate students, subject to meeting ongoing eligibility critera.

Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship applicants must:

  • Be commencing or is currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree in the Faculty of Science and Engineering in Session 1 2024.
  • Intend to study Full-Time and internally (i.e. on campus).
  • Demonstrated record of high academic achievement.
  • Can demonstrate the potential to make a positive impact in support of the United Nations Sustainable Develop goals.
  • Preference will be given to students who can demonstrate financial hardship or disadvantage.

How to apply

Applications available via Macquarie University Scholarship Application. Applicants will need to provide two references, one from an academic source (e.g. school principal, undergraduate lecturer) and one from another person who can comment on their suitability for this scholarship. Short-listed applicants may be contacted to attend an informal interview with representatives of Macquarie University . The application will include a personal statement that should discuss the following four questions:

  • Why have you chosen the degree that you have?
  • What do you hope to achieve once you complete this degree?
  • How have you supported the attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through campaign, advocacy etc to date?
  • How will your studies facilitate your future impact in relation to the UN SDGs?
