About the scholarship
The NSW Government Aboriginal Housing Office has awarded Macquarie University additional limited funding to help support new and existing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who are experiencing the impact of housing stress on their ability to study. The total grant funding per student is capped at $10,000 and should be used to support accommodation related expenses.
Duration
One-off award payable in the first year. Payment may be split across two sessions.
Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be an Australian citizen, or the holder of an Australian permanent resident visa.
- Identify as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
- Be enrolled in a full-time course at Macquarie University in 2023 (must be on-campus study).
- Demonstrate that they are a social housing tenant or in housing stress ('housing stress' is defined as expending more than 40% of weekly income on accommodation).
- Be living independently
