Fees and costs of postgraduate coursework

As a domestic postgraduate student studying at Macquarie Uni you will need to understand the cost of your degree and the fee payment process.

You are a domestic postgraduate student if you are:

  • an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • a New Zealand citizen
  • a permanent resident (including humanitarian visa holder)
  • enrolled in our postgraduate coursework.

How you add up your fees

When working out the cost of your tuition, you will need to take into account:

  • course type and unit cost
  • offer type
  • non-tuition costs such as student services and amenities fees, textbooks, application processing fees, living costs, overseas student health cover (international students) etc.

Commonwealth Supported (CSP) and Domestic Fee-paying Place (DFP)

Most postgraduate coursework degrees only have full fee-paying courses available. These are called Domestic Fee-paying Places (DFPs).

We also offer Commonwealth supported places (CSP) for a limited number of postgraduate degrees for domestic students.

You may be eligible for a HELP loan to defer your unit fees to the Australian Tax Office (ATO) if you are:

  • an Australian citizen
  • an approved New Zealand Special Category Visa holder (NZSCV) who meets long-term residency requirements *
  • a current and former* Permanent Resident (PR) Humanitarian Visa holder.

Permanent Resident (PR) non-humanitarian visa holders and non-eligible NZ citizens must still pay fees fully upfront to the University.

* NZSCV and former PR Humanitarian visa holders must provide evidence of meeting the residency requirements through the Residency Verification form before they can be assessed as being eligible for a HELP loan. See more information about eligibility.

FEE-HELP loans

Eligible full-fee paying DFP students may apply for a FEE-HELP loan. See information about FEE-HELP limits and how to check your balance.

HECS-HELP loans

Eligible CSP students may apply for a HECS-HELP loan.
