Biography
Maggie is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Actuarial Studies and Business Analytics at Macquarie University and a PhD candidate at the Australian National University with supervision links to MUCHE. Prior to joining academia in 2018, Maggie worked as a Manager in the Actuarial practice of Ernst & Young (EY) with 7 years of experience in health and general insurance in Australia. During her time at EY, she provided actuarial advice for various private health insurers and other health care organisations. Her research focus at Macquarie University is on wider health with recent research projects on the potential impact of AI on medical malpractice claims in the US (a research initiative driven by the US Society of Actuaries) as well as mortality projections using best-performance mortality rates as reference. Her PhD focus is planned to be on mental health (a research initiative driven by the Australian Department of Health).
Maggie is a Fellow of the Actuaries Institute Australia (FIAA) and a Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary (CERA). She also volunteers for the Actuaries Institute of Australia in various capacities including being a member of the Actuaries Institute’s Health Practice Committee and reviewer for the new education Fellowship program.
