February 2017: Dr Liz Schroeder to team up with University of Sydney researchers and others to develop and evaluate the world’s first Internet-based stuttering clinic following a $6.3 million grant from the NHMRC.
February 2017: Senior research fellow, Dr Zhiming Cheng has been elected member to the Global Young Academy (GYA). One of only seven Australian members, the GYA is an international body made up of outstanding young scientists from around the world who come together to address topics of global importance.
November 2016: MUCHE has been selected by the Black Dog Institute to undertake an economic evaluation of its suicide prevention program, "Lifespan".
November 2016: Centre Director, Dr Henry Cutler, and senior research fellow, Dr Zhiming Cheng of MUCHE, together with Faculty of Business & Economics, A/Prof Denise Jepsen presented new findings on workforce issues in the aged care sector to senior business leaders and government representatives. The presentation was followed by a general discussion at a boardroom lunch.
November 2016: MUCHE, in conjunction with the Arts Health Institute, has met with industry leaders from the aged care sector to discuss social care related quality of life (SCRQoL). The executive boardroom lunch was held in The Chancellery of Macquarie University. One of the main architects of the British based measurement tool, ASCOT, Professor Ann Netten, from the University of Kent, was a special guest speaker.
November 2016: Dr Bonny Parkinson, senior research fellow at MUCHE has presented the Cochlear Global Research Symposium in Sydney.
October 2016: MUCHE has completed its program of industry training courses for the year. The third "Introduction to Health Economics" for 2016, led by MUCHE team member, Dr Bonny Parkinson and the first courses on "Economic evaluation alongside clinical trials" and "Incorporating health economics into grant applications", which were held in conjunction with the University of Melbourne.
October 2016: MUCHE has been selected by the Federal Department of Health to evaluate submissions to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Pricing Committee.
September 2016: MUCHE has hosted a senior executive industry roundtable meeting with ex-Prime Minister of Australia, The Honourable Tony Abbott, as special guest speaker.
September 2016: Dr Bonny Parkinson has presented a paper at the Australian Health Economics Society (AHES) annual conference on "Cost‐effectiveness of the BRECONDA decision aid for breast reconstruction".
September 2016: Dr Henry Cutler has presented at the Australian Health Economics Society (AHES) annual conference on "Nurse discretion and intention to stay in residential aged care. The roles of time pressure, care time, and nurse shortage".
September 2016: The Asia-Pacific Journal of Clinical Oncology has published the paper, "Long-term health care costs for patients with prostate cancer: A population-wide longitudinal study in New South Wales, Australia" by a team of researchers, including MUCHE researcher Dr Bonny Parkinson.
September 2016: Dr Yuanyuan Gu has joined MUCHE as a senior research fellow. Prior to joining MUCHE he was a Research Fellow at the Centre for Health Economics at Monash University
August 2016: MUCHE has been selected by Sydney Local Health District to evaluate the implementation of a hearing screening tool, "Sound Scouts", which screens children before they commence school.
August 2016: MUCHE has welcomed two new research associates to the team - Emma Olin and Dr Mutsa Gumbie. Emma was a Health Economics Associate at the management consulting group, Health Outcomes Australia, while Mutsa was a research associate at Curtin University.
August 2016: NSW Health has selected MUCHE to undertake a study related to "Hospital in the Home" (HITH).
July 2016: An article written by Dr Henry Cutler on the potential impacts of aged care reform titled, 'The real bellwether on reform success' was published in the Australian Ageing Agenda.
July 2016: MUCHE has received funding from the Commonwealth Bank of Australia to investigate the potential to investigate greater choice across public hospitals, and whether competition in health care has improved outcomes in Australia.
July, 2016: MUCHE has received funding from NSW Health (in conjunction with The CIE) to undertake an analysis of purchasing options for “Hospital in the Home” (HITH) throughout NSW.
June, 2016: MUCHE has released an advertisement for a Research Fellow A position.

March 2015: MUCHE has developed and released its core strategy, with the intent of focusing its research efforts on five key areas, including Integrated Care, Mental Health, Health Technology, Aged Care and Disability Care.
January 2015: Macquarie University has appointed Dr Henry Cutler as the inaugural director of MUCHE.
