Centre for Language Technology
Honours Scholarships 2002
Each year, the Centre for Language Technology makes available a number of Honours Scholarships to support students who work on projects in particular areas. The application process for these scholarships will be finalised around mid-February.
KELP: Knowledge Extraction and Linguistic Presentation
KELP is a new joint project involving collaboration between Macquarie University's Centre for Language Technology and CSIRO's Intelligent Interactive Systems Group. CSIRO has generously made available up to four Honours Scholarships worth $5000 for students undertaking their honours year full-time in 2002 as part of Macquarie's Language Technology Program, provided their projects are in some way relevant to the development of KELP. See the list of honours projects for some possible KELP projects, but be aware that KELP involves many aspects of natural language processing, so if you have a project in mind, make sure you talk to Robert, Diego, or Rolf to see if your project would be eligible.
Controlled Language for Requirements Specification
JRCASE has generously made available a $5000 scholarship for a targetted project on the use of a controlled language for requirements specification. See a brief project description, and this PDF file for full details. Note that the closing date for applications for this scholarship is February 22nd 2002.
Applying NLP Techniques to Searching the Macquarie Website
It is very likely that there will be a scholarship available for a project based on the JustAsk! project.
