Project 1: Models of Care for Type 1 Diabetes
Project description
With generous funding from the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) a Global Centre of Excellence in Type 1 Diabetes Research has been established in Australia. The AIHI (A/Prof Yvonne Zurynski, Prof Jeffrey Braithwaite, and Dr Ann Carrigan) lead the Models of Care Stream which aims to improve interdisciplinary care delivery, integration and coordination for children and young people with Type 1 Diabetes. We are looking for a PhD scholar to join our team to undertake a PhD project related to the Centre’s work. The right candidate will be supported to apply for a postgraduate scholarship.
Project 2: Experiences and opinions of Australian health consumers
Project description
The AIHI and the NHMRC Partnership Centre for Health System Sustainability is working closely with the Consumers Health Forum of Australia to understand needs and gaps of health consumers when they seek and receive care in our health system. We have two waves of data from 2018 (>1000 respondents) and 2021 (>5000 respondents), and another wave of data collection is planned for 2023. Interesting findings regarding access, affordability, opinions and experiences are being explored. We are looking for PhD candidates to join our team. Candidates will be supported to apply for a postgraduate scholarship.

To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants are expected to have a record of excellent academic performance and, preferably, additional relevant research experience and/or peer-reviewed research activity in line with the University’s scholarship rating guidelines. Refer to the Rating Scholarship Applicants section for more information about these guidelines. Applicants must also arrange for two academic referee reports to be submitted to the Higher Degree Research Office. Further information can be found on the How to Apply page.
