Project description, aims, design and method
Rapid acceleration in the implementation and adoption of virtual modes of care across NSW Health in the context of COVID-19 has afforded NSW Health the unique opportunity to explore the benefits and limitations of virtual care modes in achieving value in health care from the patient and clinician perspective. The present project sought to develop a measurement instrument that captures clinician experience to be applied in the NSW Health context and that can be used specifically to obtain early data on clinician experience to inform an assessment of early impact of virtual care. It can also be utilised towards common measures of clinician experience to assess value-based care projects state-wide.
Project aims
- To develop an instrument to assess clinician experiences in healthcare towards assessing value-based health care outcomes in NSW Health.
- To administer the resulting Clinician Experience Measure (CEM) to a sample of NSW Health clinicians and examine of their experiences of using virtual modes of care.
- To synthesise CEM and focus group data to establish the clinician experience of virtual modes in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Design and method
Mixed-methods integrating survey and focus group data.
