Poor workplace behaviour in hospitals
Organisational change is required to address “endemic” poor workplace behaviour in hospitals
A recent article in Croakey.org News features research on unprofessional behaviour in hospitals conducted by researchers from the Australian Institute of Health Innovation, Macquarie University.
The study involved the survey of 5,000 hospital staff (including clinical and non-clinical staff members) across seven Australian metropolitan hospitals. Results from the survey showed that 94 percent of respondents experienced at least one unprofessional behaviour in the preceding 12 months, 39 percent of which experienced frequent incivility or bullying and 14.5 percent had experienced more extreme unprofessional behaviour.
