The Australian Institute of Health Innovation will host a special seminar on 6th March, 2015 presented by Drs Natalie Pageler and Veena Goel, practising Pediatricians from Stanford School of Medicine, Stanford University.

The title of their seminar is “Evidence-based implementation of the electronic medical record and computerized physician order entry”. In this presentation they will discuss literature on the unintended consequences of computerized physician order entry implementation and provide guidelines for mitigation strategies with examples from the experiences at Stanford Children’s Health. There will be time allocated for discussion and Q&A at the completion of the presentation. Please see below for all the details and the a link to register for this seminar.

Speaker profiles:

Dr. Natalie Pageler, is a faculty member in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, Director of the Clinical Informatics Department, and an Associate Program Director for the Clinical Informatics Fellowship. To view Dr Pageler’s Google scholar page click here

Dr. Veena Goel, became the inaugural fellow in Pediatric Hospital Medicine after completing Pediatrics residency at Stanford Children's. In 2014, Dr Goel combined this with a second fellowship to concurrently be one of the inaugural fellows in Clinical Informatics at Stanford. Her scholarship focuses on leveraging a unique data set at Stanford Children's in an effort to improve bedside monitor alarm fatigue, which was recently declared a National Patient Safety Goal by the Joint Commission.
