RCPA honour bestowed to Associate Professor Andrew Georgiou
Associate Professor Andrew Georgiou, of the Centre for Health Systems and Safety Research, Australian Institute of Health Innovation, Macquarie University was recently admitted to Fellowship of the Faculty of Science (Research) of The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia. The Board of Directors of the College granted Associate Professor Georgiou’s Fellowship of the Faculty of Science by Research from 10 August 2015.
Admission to Fellowship is a significant honour, recognising professionals whose outstanding research expertise in science and pathology makes a vital contribution to the Faculty of Science. The award to Associate Professor Georgiou was in recognition of his outstanding record of quality research as a health and pathology informatics researcher across the areas of quality and safety, outcomes measurement and organisational communication research.
Associate Professor Georgiou plays a leading role in the engagement and liaison with consumers, industry and government for the translation of research into practice. He was this year’s co-chair of the Scientific Program Committee of Health Informatics Society of Australian Health Informatics Conference and is the co-chair of the International Medical Informatics Association Working Group on Technology Assessment and Quality Development.
