On 8th June the AIHI was pleased to welcome Dr Faisal Saeed who is currently on an Endevaour Executive Fellowship working at the Agency for Clinical Innovation. Dr Saeed gave an insightful presentation on the challenges of initiating patient safety and quality improvements in the Maldives health system.
Abstract
How do you create change towards patient autonomy, empowerment and inclusion in a system deeply rooted in medical paternalism? Dr Faisal Saeed talks on how he is transforming his pledge to “spark a revolution in the Maldives health system” to meaningful action through building capacity and learning from well-developed health systems, and describes the challenges in trying to create such changes in culture.
Speaker profile
Dr Faisal Saeed is a medical doctor from the Maldives, with a Master of Laws in Healthcare Law from the University of Liverpool. He is the lead for clinical governance, patient safety and quality improvement at ADK Hospital, the largest private hospital in the country.
He is currently on an Endeavour Executive Fellowship offered by the Australian Government and is working at the Agency for Clinical Innovation on patient reported outcome measures.
