Abstract

What are the key characteristics of high performing health and care services?

  • Data sharing, transparency and access to digital services measurably improve clinical safety, efficiency and integration
  • Patients and consumers are empowered to take control of their health and care through easy access to personal data, online transactions and care planning services
  • They are at the cutting edge of science and planning for the advent of genomics and precision medicine

Tim Kelsey, who led transformation of data and digital services in the NHS in England, draws on international evidence to show how the modern information revolution is the precondition for sustainable, high quality and equitable healthcare.
