The future of a sustainable healthcare system is digital – with technology to increase productivity and improve safety and quality through the appropriate use of data, improved diagnosis and innovative services. In this talk we will highlight how research at CSIRO’s Australian e-Health Research Centre is transforming healthcare across these key domains of Data, Diagnosis and Services. CSIRO’s Digital Productive Flagship is delivering these solutions through our collaborations with health service providers around Australia. Highlighted in this talk will be our Health Services research, including a world first Randomised Controlled Trial of a mobile phone based cardiac rehabilitation program and our Health Informatics research, including data analytics to improve hospital performance and improve interoperability of healthcare data.

Speaker profiles

David Hansen is CEO of the Australian e-Health Research Centre, part of the CSIRO Digital Productivity Flagship. David leads a research portfolio developing information and communication technologies for the healthcare system. Prior to joining CSIRO, David worked for LION Bioscience Ltd in the UK, developing genomic data and tool integration software that was used to publish the first human genome and is now used at over 200 pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and research institutes world wide.

Jill Freyne is a Senior Research Scientist and Team and Project Leader in the CSIRO e-Health Research Centre. Jill is the Team Leader of the Engagement and Effectiveness team in the Health Services Group. Jill received her PhD from University College Dublin . Jill’s research focuses on human computer interaction, personalization recommender and persuasive technologies to impact attitude and behaviour in the health domain.
