Marea O'Donnell
| BiographyMPS, AcSHPA, FANZCAP (GeriMed), MPharm, BA Marea O’Donnell is a research officer in the Medication Safety team at the Centre for Health Systems and Safety Research at AIHI. She has worked in aged care as a community and consultant pharmacist for many years with many large aged care providers which has included ensuring quality use of medicines and optimal medication management processes at head office level. She has also worked on many projects to educate and mentor aged care pharmacists in medication reviews and quality use of medicines services as well as improve the IT systems used for their delivery. Her research areas of interest include enabling system development that improves the interdisciplinary work between doctors and pharmacists, particularly at medication review, to improve outcomes for elderly Australians living in aged care. Current projects include Leveraging informatics to optimise pharmacist-led medication reviews in residential aged care to improve outcomes and cost-effectiveness and development of a UTI decision support tool. |
