Organic geochemistry-Permian and Triassic in the Sydney Basin

Organic geochemistry of the Permian and Triassic in the Sydney Basin

We have been working on characterising the organic geochemistry of Permian and Triassic sediments in the Sydney Basin, both at outcrop and in core. The biomarker and hydrocarbon compositions enable insights into depositional environment, organic matter inputs and thermal maturity. We have worked on the Permian-Triassic boundary succession, and have documented evidence of an increase in forest fires across the boundary.
