Description | The Transforming Energy Markets (TEM) Research Centre will host an important and timely debate on whether nuclear energy can be integrated into the future energy mix, while addressing safety, security and society challenges. It will provide a platform for experts to debate the potential role of nuclear energy amid growing demands for sustainability, reliability and reduced emissions. As Australia transitions to a low-carbon energy mix, this event will consider questions around advanced reactor designs that offer increased safety and efficiency, and whether nuclear energy could provide a stable, low-emission alternative to fossil fuels. Discussion of public concerns over safety, waste management, and the potential for nuclear proliferation will also be considered, alongside the economic and regulatory challenges of building a nuclear infrastructure. High-profile experts will discuss the possibilities, risks, economic benefits, and societal implications. It will be followed by the opportunity for networking with canapes and drinks and if you are interested in attending, register here.
